We are pleased to announce the lucky winners of the prize draws organised by the Silage Advisory Centre (SilAC) at the ScotGrass and Balmoral shows.

Participants of the competition had the opportunity to win reels of silage balewrap and grassland health checks.

  • 6 reels of Silotite®: Raymond Brown, Cookstown
  • 5 reels of Silotite®: John R Wallace, Enniskillen
  • 4 reels of Silotite®: Stephen Smith, Cookstown
  • 1 grassland health check: Jamie Laurie, Lockerbie
  • 1 grassland health check: Gavin Duffy, Springfield

The reels of balewrap film were kindly offered by bpi.agri, a division of British Polythene Industries, and member of SilAC. “We’re delighted that Silotite®, our market leading brand of silage balewrapping film, was the product of choice for this prize draw. We hope that the winning farmers will take advantage of these reels and get the best results for this coming bale wrapping season” said Louise Aplin, Marketing Manager at bpi.agri.

The grassland health checks will be provided by another of SilAC’s members, British Seed Houses, the largest privately-owned seed company in the UK. “A pasture health check consists in an assessment of the value of the swards on the farm, in terms of yield and forage quality, in order to maximise milk production from forage systems. We come to a farm and evaluate the productivity of grassland and explain the different advantages of the best modern varieties in order for farmers to maximise home grown forage,” declared Paul Billings, Agricultural Director at BSH.

“We are very pleased to provide some of the prizes for the free competition organized by SilAC during the ScotGrass and Balmoral shows. We would like to thank everyone who entered the draw,” added Billings.
