Materials from the SilAC-sponsored BGS Red Clover Day

Last week, a team of Silage Advisory Centre (SilAC) experts were present at the SilAC-sponsored BGS Profiting from Red Clover day. Filled with excellent knowledge exchange, practical demonstrations and lively discussions; the day proved to be a valuable learning experience for all who attended.

John and Tim Downes opened the day with an insightful introduction and honest disclosure on the issues they, and many others, have faced with this year’s Red Clover crop as a result of the weather. Followed nicely by expert presentations (below) from BGS representatives and SilAC expert Dave Davies, Director of Silage Solutions Ltd, attendees were advised on how to best use Red Clover as an effective silage crop.

A bale wrapping demonstration, delivered by Mel John, bpi.agri and Rhun Fychan, Research Scientist at IBERS, showed best practice tips on how to wrap the perfect bale (for more advice on this visit http://www.silageadvice.com/bale-wrapping-lloyd-dawson.
