About us
The Silage Advisory Centre promotes the science of silage to aid farmers’ decision-making on silage production, forage and grassland management.
Our goal is to aid UK and Irish livestock farmers produce quality and nutritional silage at a reasonable profit though the promotion of best practices, research, and facilitating access to information, expert advice and practical tools.
The Centre is supported by member organisations who have a shared interest in supporting on-farm decision-making when it comes to silage production.
Core Activities
Our mission is to engage in and support knowledge transfer activities that directly support the Centre’s objectives. This is done though:
- commissioning independent technical field trials and research projects and facilitating the dissemination of results
- supporting silage advisory forums and seminars for grassland, dairy and livestock farmers
- publishing a range of practical information and tools, case studies, research studies and reports to share best practice with farmers
